"We got you to #1 for [keyword]"
Check whether that keyword is one a real prospect actually searches, with meaningful volume and intent behind it, or a low-volume, low-competition vanity term nobody types before hiring a lawyer. A #1 ranking on a term with no searchers is a #1 ranking on an empty room.
"We're optimizing for AI search / GEO"
A newer claim, and at this point an open industry question rather than a proven channel: whether citations inside AI-generated answers meaningfully drive law firm intake volume today is, as of this writing, unverified at the level of individual firms. Treat any vendor's claimed "AI visibility" number as a hypothesis until it is joined to actual site traffic and calls - not as a metric to budget against on faith.
"We publish X articles a month"
Content volume is not content performance. Check whether published articles map to organic traffic and, further, to organic-attributed calls on those specific URLs - not just to a rising count of URLs on the sitemap.
"Your domain authority is up"
Domain Authority and Domain Rating are third-party scores, not Google ranking factors, and they can rise without meaningfully affecting rankings or traffic. Check referring domain quality and organic traffic trend together, not the score in isolation.
Lane: We are measurement engineers, not a marketing agency - Webclat does not sell SEO, PPC, or marketing services. What follows is what to verify about the SEO/PPC/marketing spend a firm already buys, from us or from anyone else.
Claim, proof, red flag
| Claim | Proof to ask for | Red flag if they can't produce it |
|---|---|---|
| #1 ranking | Search volume + organic sessions on that page | Ranking cited without volume or traffic context |
| AI search / GEO optimization | Any traceable traffic or call lift, joined to a specific change | A visibility “score” with no underlying traffic data |
| Content published | Organic sessions and calls on those specific URLs | A count of posts with no per-URL performance |
| Domain authority up | Referring domain quality + organic traffic trend together | The score cited alone, with no traffic correlate |
Hypothesis, labeled: whether AI-answer citations meaningfully drive law firm intake volume today is an open question industry-wide. Treat any vendor's claimed AI-visibility number as unverified until it is joined to actual site traffic and calls.
